Puma Closes Sponsorship of Wylde, Jamaican Usain Bolt’s eSports Team

Usain Bolt is reportedly co-owns an Irish-based eSports team, Wylde eSports. The announcement of the investment in the games sector was made by the multiple Olympic and world champion in April 2022.

Less than a year later, the fruits of the Irish team’s partnership with the greatest sprinter of all time have already begun to be reaped. Earlier this month, Wylde released details of a “multi-year partnership” with Puma.

Relatively young, the Irish team has only four competitive teams, in the modalities of Valorant, Rocket League, Fifa 23 and Rainbow Six Siege (R6), with greater emphasis on the latter.

On the other hand, the German sports brand is already considered traditional in the eSports scene, and is also a sponsor of other great teams, such as NAV and Gen.G.

“My relationship with Puma has been very strong throughout my career. It’s very special to see my team aligned with the brand as we build a global esports organisation.” Bolt said.

“Our professional players will wear Puma kits with pride, just as I have for so many years.” he added.

Bolt was a former Jamaican athlete considered the greatest sprinter of all time. He was twice Olympic and World Champion. He also holds the world record in the 100 and 200 meter dash and the 4 x 100 meter relay.

At the 2012 Olympics in London, he won the 100 meters final, with 9s63, a better time than the one in Beijing.

He won the 200 meters with a time of 19s32. In the 4×100 relay he was part of the quartet formed by Yohan Blake, Michael Frater and Nesta Carter, when he won his third gold medal.

Bolt participated in his sixth World Athletics Championships in 2015 which took place in Beijing, China, when he won three gold medals in the 100, 200 and 4×100, adding a grand total of 11 gold medals, making him the greatest track and field champion of all time.
