Arsenal skiper Martin Odegaard has given his opinion on Martinelli’s disallowed goal by the refree Paul Tierney in the 10th minute of the English Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners thought they had taken an early lead at Old Trafford but VAR a review showed Odegaard fouling United midfielder Christian Eriksen in the build-up of the goal.
“In my opinion, it’s never a foul. For me, it is very, very soft. On the camera, you can always make it look a little bit worse. It’s frustrating.” Odegaard said.
“I barely touched him, they keep saying this is the Premier League and want it to be physical. I don’t understand how he can go back on it.” Odegaard added.
Arsenal eventually lost the match 3-1 with United new signing Anthony opening the scoreline 10 minute to half-time before Bukayo Saka equalised into 60th minute.
United took a lead six minutes later through Marcus Rashford who then sealed the game in the 75th minute.
“I must say Arsenal played well, but we defend well. And I never had the feeling they would break us. And they had good possession, a lot of movement and creativity.” United manager Erik ten Hag said.
“But we had a good defending line, but we defend as a team with all eleven [players]. But still, we can have better pressing organisation, we can keep them further away from our goal and control them very well.
“We need a little more composure on the ball. And you can control and dictate the game even more.” Ten Hag added.
The Sunday’s win sees United move to fifth in the Premier League, with the Red Devils now winning four games on the Premier League.
