Liverpool Put on Red Alert over the Possibility of Signing Olympique Lyon Starlet Bradley Barcola

Liverpool have been put on red alert over the possibility of signing Olympique Lyon starlet Bradley Barcola who could be set to leave Les Gones at the end of 202/23 season.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, top European clubs are now following the performance of the young winger.

“Many European clubs are tracking OL talented winger Bradley Barcola, born in 2002. Understand Liverpool are among teams monitoring his development with their scouts but the race is open.” Romano twitted.

Roberto Firmino is set to leave Liverpool this summer, and while many thought that the addition of Cody Gakpo in January would make up the numbers for the impending departure of Firmino, Jurgen Klopp seems to be still looking for further firepower.

“We want to squeeze everything out of this season. That means obviously if it’s somehow possible we want to go into the top four,” Klopp said.

The 2019-20 Premier League winners have had a disappointing start to the season, despite the uncertainty surrounding their transfer window.

Extended in January 2022, Bradley Barcola is currently under contract until June 2026. The 20-year-old winger has scored 7 goals and 4 assists in this season.

Barcola has found a position in the Lyon attack by utilising some of the a few exits in the attacking sector this winter.

However, Lyon manager Laurent Blanc did not force Barcola to play during the first half of the season and had even sent him back to the reserve squad. He has now become quite simply indispensable.

“He surprises me on a physical level. He doesn’t second-guess himself. He scores goals, even though he is not necessarily an out-and-out striker. He can easily eliminate his opponents with his technical finesse and speed,” Blanc said.
