Latest Update on Jannik Sinner Emerges as His French Open Participation Remains Uncertain

Jannik Sinner has returned to the practice court and appears eager to attempt playing at the 2024 French Open.

According to reports, the World No.2 kicked off his clay season on a high note by reaching the semifinals at the Monte Carlo Masters and advancing to the quarterfinals at the Madrid Masters.

However, his hopeful streak was interrupted by a hip injury in Madrid, and the Italian has been sidelined from play ever since.

Following Sinner’s withdrawal from the Rome Masters, rumors began to circulate about the possibility of the Italian also pulling out of the French Open.

However, with just a week left before the start of the second Grand Slam of the season, reports suggest that the 22-year-old Italian is back on the practice court, putting his hip to the test.

After completing four matches in Monte Carlo, the Italian continued his winning streak by triumphing in his first three matches in Madrid.

However, during his round-of-16 match against Karen Khachanov in Madrid, Sinner visibly struggled with a hip issue, causing concern among many that he might not be able to carry on with his campaign.

The next day, those fears materialised when Sinner declared his withdrawal from the remaining tournament matches, citing a persistent hip issue that had troubled him throughout the event.

“Very sad to have to withdraw from my next match here in Madrid. My hip has been bothering me this week and has slowly been getting more painful.” Sinner said.

“Taking the advice from the doctors we decided it’s best to not play further and make it worse,” Sinner added.

The 2024 French Open, a prestigious Grand Slam tennis tournament, is set to take place on the outdoor clay courts of the iconic Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

The event will run from May 20th to June 9th, 2024, featuring thrilling competitions in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
