Knicks Get Karl-Anthony Towns in NBA Trade with Wolves

The NBA draft saw the New York Knicks swapping Karl-Anthony Towns with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania has revealed new information about the negotiation that will have an explosive effect: three other athletes are involved.

Consequently, Julius II Randle and Donte DiVincenzo will be going to Minnesota soon.

Besides, the Timberwolves get a first-round pick in 2025 Draft. The Charlotte Hornets, in turn, come in as an intermediary and get DaQuan Jeffries.

Towns arrival eliminates the knicks biggest issue. After all, the team wanted to have a stable and strong center.

The other player at the position is Mitchell Robinson, who is usually sidelined by one injury or the other. Besides, German Isaiah Hartenstein left the team this offseason to join the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Although drafted by the Timberwolves in 2015 as the overall first pick, Towns featured in 573 games directly for Minnesota, all of them as starters.

Fans never saw him have an overall great game, which can be reasonably accounted for when reflecting on nine seasons, he provided 22.9 points on average, 10.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Last season the Dominican native who contributed the team during its play off run appeared in 62 games and achieved 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and three assist averages.

He also ranked first of all centers regarding the number of three-point field goals made, 975.

The swap that entitled New York Knicks to Towns from the Timberwolves can be considered unexpected to some extent.

There was hope that the New York franchise will look for a cheaper center in the market. For example, Nick Richards of the Charlotte Hornets and Robert Williams of the Portland Trail Blazers had been rumoured.

However, the Knicks are getting a four-time All-Star and two times the All-NBA Third Team player.
