Egoless, Derrick Rose Projects Big Season with Knicks

New York Knicks point guard, Derrick Rose, revealed a league MVP career derailed by injuries, but he turned it around in basketball.

Rose has managed the physical problems and thus became an active part of teams for the last four seasons.

However, he still feels he has more to offer. Stripped of that former star’s ego, Rose projects his best season with the Knicks in 2023.

“I feel like I’m going to play a lot of games this year, first of all. I’m excited, more than that, to get on the court. I feel light and therefore moving much better.” Rose said.

“I’m not worried about my shot as it sounds great in practice. I’m prepared to compete and ultimately help this team in any way I can.” Rose added.

The last game, on the other hand, brought a new warning about Rose’s reputation. Back and ankle injuries kept him out of the game for 26 games. It was the first time since 2018, by the way, that he played less than 50 matches in a season.

Meanwhile, the Nicks head coach Tom Thibodeau understood the message of Rose’s ageing body.

“When you get to this point in your career, for example, being light and thin is important. Derrick then committed to this over the holidays.” Thibodeau said.

“We know that if he is in one piece, he is a sensational player. Also, I believe this condition is your best chance to stay healthy. It will be, in short, a great team for us in these conditions.” he added.

Rose is struggling with the transition being one of the main stars on the planet and suddenly having to adapt to a secondary role is complicated.

Rose revealed that he had to suppress his ego behind to make it this season with the Knicks.

“The reality is that I just turned 34 years old. That young man I was, even if he didn’t show it, had an ego. But I killed that ego a long time ago.” Rose said.

“Today, then, I am a totally different person. I’m much more mature, while still trying to challenge myself to be a more vocal leader. I want, after all, to be an example for the younger ones.” he added.
