Dominique Aegerter to Leave Ten Kate Racing to Ride GYTR GRT Yamaha in WorldSBK in 2023

The Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter is reportedly will make his debut in the World Superbike class in 2023.

Aegerter is on the hunt to renew that title with Ten Kate Racing, before moving to the WorldSBK category in 2023 with the Italian GYTR GRT Yamaha team.

Aegerter had a very strong debut season in the WorldSSP class the last season and will remain the rider to beat on his Yamaha R6 in 2022.

Since his arrival in the WorldSBK paddock, Aegerter has shown a relentless pace and consistency as his work ethic and commitment make him perfect for Yamaha’s WorldSBK line-up next year.

Aegerter brings a strong background, having made his debut on the international stage in 2006 with two wild card entries in the 125cc world championship at Valencia and Estoril.

He proven his ability to quickly adapt to new machines, finishing third in the standings that year.

Aegerter made his WorldSBK paddock debut in 2021, riding for the Ten Kate Yamaha WorldSSP Supported Team in the medium class.

The 32-year-old rider had an excellent first WorldSSP campaign with 10 wins and 15 podium finishes on the way to the world title despite having to switch between the MotoE bike and the Yamaha R6 during the season.

Aegerter took another step forward in 2022 by claiming the title with three wins and ten podiums after finishing second in MotoE. He continued to shine in the WorldSSP this season and currently leads the championship with 12 wins from 16 races.

“I’m super happy to be riding with Yamaha in the WorldSBK championship next season. It’s a great opportunity for me and a fantastic reward for last year’s world title and for leading the WorldSSP series this year.” Aegerter said.

“I look forward to riding for the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team and racing alongside Remy Gardner, who will be a strong teammate as a former Moto2 World Champion and current MotoGP rider.” Aegerter added.

Aegerter will ride a Yamaha YZF-R1 alongside with Remy Gardner in 2023 for the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team.
