Baccarat – Player or Banker

Baccarat is a game of one decision. It is a wager on the “Player” or the “Banker”. The bet and casino go hand in hand. Either the banker’s side or you will achieve a point total of hand closest to 9. The hand with the highest point total wins the bet.

Playing Baccarat is not complicated. It’s a game that is based on prediction. Predict who will score more points or a tie between the player and the banker. It all starts with placing the bets. Once all players have bet, the dealer distributes two cards each to the banker and the player. The hands are marked by adding the value of each card in hand.

The cards 2 to 9 are worth face value. 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings have a value of 0. An ace is worth 1 point. Let us say, the player hand has two cards, “2” and “5.” The value of the hand is the sum of the two cards, i.e. 2 + 5 = 7. Let us take another example, where the two cards are “6” and “9”. The sum of the card values is 6 + 9 = 15. Since 15 is a 2-digit number, you have to drop the left-most digit. The value of this hand in Baccarat is 5.

Player Rules

  • If one of the hands is an 8 or a 9, neither of them receives more cards and the hand is immediately over. This rule prevails over all other rules.
  • When the player’s hand has a value of 5 or less, the player will receive a third card. If the player has 6 or more, he can not receive another card. Which means he “stand”
  • If the player decides to stand, the dealer must follow the player’s rule. This means that he draws a card worth 5 or less and must stand on card 6 or more.
  • In case the player decides to “hit”, the banker must choose whether she wants to take a third card or not according to the combination of the score of the banker and the third card of the player.

Banker Rules

  • If the banker has a hand of 2 or less, he must always make a new draw.
  • When the banker has a hand of 3, he must hit unless the player’s third card is an 8.
  • If the banker gets a 4, she must hit if the player’s third card is between 2 and 7.
  • In case the banker gets a 6, she has to hit if the player’s third card is between 6 and 7.
  • When the banker’s hand and a 7, she must always stand.
